In terms of a record deal he is right. But he doesnt put on shows out of the 15%. The promoters pay for that inclusive of his show fee.

Out of a show fee a lot of stuff gets shaved off as well. Booking agents, record labels if he is in a 360 deal. If its an all in deal then the flights and some rigging come out of that as well.

So by no means is he getting all that money or even the majority of it, But hes far from poor.

When all is said and done, whether he's making x or y, at the end of the day being deadmau5 is a pretty sweet gig.
