Laptop for note taking = awesome, for in class notes and book notes. You can print the notes out and put them on flash cards to carry around with you and review (and it saves a lot of time). Not to mention that I personally, can type a hell of a lot faster than I can write.

You don't need word to use your laptop. Notepad/wordpad works just as well. With that being said, you should be able to buy word for relatively cheap.
Paper notebooks = not necessary IMO.

Just be yourself, and if you're more than 10 years older than the chicks... don't be creepy.

I think the hardest thing, for me at least, about going back is realizing how much dedication it all takes. You can't go home and just forget about it like you can with a lot of jobs. It's also harder as you get older to feel like you're a part of the experience. Join some clubs/groups or something to get more involved with like-minded people.

Anyway, good luck!

I feel all of that as well... Taking classes back home for me has been shitty, as I don't know any of the students and haven't made a point to get to know any. I've studied in a group with a couple people for one of my classes on occasion but that's it. Being old enough to drink totally changes the game - I have no desire to go to campus ragers anymore. I'd rather go out in the city to a fun party with music and booze and tons of people.

Well, i thought about that, but i am going to be unemployed...... Before i had my parents supporting me, now i have enough cash for gas/food/tuition/books/rent/bills for 3 months, so i will need to get a job soon which means i will go to school 4 days a week and then work 2 days or something like that.

Wont be having much of a social life.

Get yourself a pipe and a tweed jacket. Women like older men with money, so take advantage. Btw, don't go all slychologist on us.

Can i still hit on the young girls or is that just creepy now? o_0

Should i dress more like a douchebag to fit in to the crowds?

Should i start wearing hats again?

3 ring binder or regular notebook?

Pencil? Pen? Laptop only? (my laptop does not have microsoft word...fail)

They have pens that you can plug into your computer after class and they record everything you wrote and heard.

No to hats, its disrespectful to wear them inside.

Yes, take advantage of the younger girls and their father issues.

I don't think that's a bad thing at all. You appreciate what you're working toward a lot more when you have to support your own ass. And staying busy with both school and work helps you to be more fully immersed in school, imo. You just begin to truly not care about having a social life, and focus more on studying and doing well. At least I did.

Selling my apartment and doing the same thing. Getting a bachelor in engineering, maybe a master. Financing everything myself, and Pie has a point about motivation. Having a gf also helps since I won't need as much of a social life, and her hard work is going to push me to work hard as well. I'm the most lazy person I know, so I really need it. I'm pretty sure I won't change the way I dress. Fitting in isn't why I'm there.
