I like all sorts of dubstep, from the more minimalistic, dubby stuff (which I like better) to the crazy wobble stuff we get from Skrillex and the like (which I still like, but not quite as much).

I do feel that, like some people have said, the filthy stuff is seriously cookie cutter, and it's disappointing that that seems to be the stuff everyone pays attention to. Skrillex, in particular, has reached the point where every single song just sounds like a remix of his last song (same synths, same samples, etc).

Also, postin' James Blake because no one else has yet.

The whole problem with Dubstep is its trashy reputation. Every time I see a thread concerning it, I know that for clicking its link there is a 99.990997879872% chance that someone is going to post some brostep related YouTube, featuring a parrot, an idiot acting like an idiot, or a lesser idiot parroting a greater idiot.

The unfortunate thing is that, as has been posted in this thread, there's a lot of good tunes being obfuscated by wobble-bass-minimal detritus.

Well, It was definately nice to hear a new rythmic concept in the otherwise rather stale scene of dub music. A new and upcoming genre always comes with a lot of creativity amongst the producers that are involved in it. Same goes for the not so dubby sort (brostep). I was quite impressed at first by it's verve. Very absract and visceral.

Unfortunately now that the dust has settled it's rather grooveless nature is starting to catch up with it. I don't think it will prove to be one of EDM's immortals.

Nonsense. You can make as good a single genre-set out of dubstep as you can with any other genre. Dubstep never was and never will be confined to the halfstep/LFO-combo it is most known for.
