Exactly. I don't really care what she claims she's going to do if elected as her entire platform is built around this ideological viewpoint she adamantly defends. She has made it clear that she thinks creationism should be taught in school and that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry. Even going so far as to say if made president, she'd overturn NY's recently enacted bill to allow gay marriage.

So apparently, states rights trump federal ruling only when it's conducive to her viewpoint, a la illegal immigration. But when something such as gay marriage comes up, oh LAWDY LOOK OUT, the government can CERTAINLY tell you how to live your life there. She can't even keep her own stories straight.

She's completely full of shit, I'm sorry. I can't even believe people take this woman seriously. She lies through her teeth and bends the truth on a whim, which isn't really anything new for politicians, but she frightens me while I watch her blatantly push her archaic ideological agenda.

Yes, because religious zealots in places of power are known to keep their own insanity personal and out of everyone elses way and just focus on that one thing they promised they would focus on. Say, what are all those fiscal conservatives that campaigned on creating jobs focusing on since the election? Oh thats right, banning abortion.

Also speaking of getting fiscal things in order, would it be nice of me to point out that about 5o to 60 years ago, during what could be unanimously across the world considered the golden age of america, when it really was the most prosperous and economically most powerful country, your tax rate was about double what it is now? Because i know you love her because she fucking hates taxes. Interesting correlation i would think, no matter whos in charge of the country, the lower your tax rate gets, the more in the gutter your country is. So obviously the solution is to lower taxes even more!

And trying to fight inefficiency in any government system short of a dictatorship is about as useful as trying to cool down mount etna with a moist handkerchief.

If the economy is the only important thing, then why does it seem Right wing candidates refuse to talk about what they're going to do to fix it other than slash social programs that in the long run wont really make a dent in the deficit, and continue to CUT taxes?

Seriously, link me to something where any one of them lays out any sort of sustainable, reasonable plan to actually fix the economy. I can't really see any way out of this entire mess other than cutting Medicare/Medicaid, Defense, and raising taxes across the board. The bullshit issues they drone on and on about right now don't matter in the long run. Stopping abortion, or cutting funding for NPR or whatever the hell they want to cut is not going to fix anything or streamline any part of government. I don't get it. Enlighten me.

wrong. Jimmy Carter had the top marginal rate at 75%... Reagan lowered it to 25% and we instantly saw 9% GDP growth and an economic explosion for the next several years. Of course there's a lot more to it, but the point is that our economy was in major stagnation with sickening tax rates in the late 70s, and all that changed soon after Carter's failed policies were ousted.

On the religious zealot thing... I'm a lot less worried about the creationism boogey man than I am about the muslims who do, you know, actual physical damage by murdering or attempting to murder people due to religious ideology. If you want to stand up against religious zealotry, why not instead discuss the muslims who were arrested 2 days ago for attempting to blow up a military recruitment center with a daycare inside in Seattle?

are you joking? I have read plenty of stuff, and heard many of them talk about point-by-point methods on how they would revive the economy. I'm not going to search for links for you on that.

Teaching kids that the earth was created by god and that people were placed here on earth by god is more dangerous than Muslim terrorists. The terrorists are killing at most a couple hundred people. Teachings like that are poisoning the minds of the people who will be leading this country in the future. It's breeding ignorance and stupidity for future generations instead of progressing our country in the fields of science. You talk to much about how No Child Left Behind has failed and that our education system is in shambles, but do you think it would be better if they started teaching creationism in schools?

Actual murdering terrorists who do so based on religious ideology are less dangerous than teachers teaching creationism? lol. Until those kids start killing and plotting to kill those who refuse to believe in creationism, I declare your point to be insane.

I'm not arguing that it would be better if they started teaching it in schools; it's right up there with the rest of the bullshit that gets taught these days in public schools. As long as they teach evolution as well (preferably within the same class) to give the kids options on how to think and choose what to believe for themselves, I guess that is what I would prefer. But this is the least of our problems right now. Yes they matter to whatever degree, but the economy and our debt are far and away the most important issues of our time right now.

Could you please? And no I'm not joking. I've only recently begun to follow politics in any form probably over the last... year or so? Not really sure, but I'm certainly not incredibly knowledgeable, or at least not at the level I'd like to be.

I'm only asking because I'm legitimately interested. Could you please provide at least SOMETHING for me to look at instead of just brushing me aside as if I'm some uneducated fuck?

Had nothing to do with Carter in particular. He was just continuing the historic high rates that were also in effect throughout the prosperous '60s.
