Thanks for all the info! I still havent decided though hehe. That slimx sounds alright, but it says there is a gap between tracks on cd playback. that could get pretty annoying!! I think I'll go check some shops when I have time.

MD's are good for everything, except storage; if you want cd quality with MD's, you'll get no more than 80 mins per disk, which kinda sucks, but they rock for getting around with.. Will die in the future if they cant get more space per disc (cd quality that is). I have one, and I love it, but I have to buy a new one everytime along with the cd I bought if I want to listen to it ont ehrun

MP3 (with har-drive type storage)players are still young, so give them a while and they will be the best going around... Memory stick in 12-24 months will be the top of the class, if you dont mind the sony style prices (shitloads)

MP3 cd players are good cos you can play either a normal cd, or an mp3 with 700MB worth of good stuff... some of the newer ones are great, but like the mp3 player above, still young technology wise...

all depends what you're looking for as far as storage/functionality etc..

I love MD for it's size, but I'm not a fan of Sony products in general, and their MD players just furthered my hatred of the company.

I bought a Sony R500 MD player/recorder near the beginning of the year, and used it sporadically, nowhere near heavily...and the stupid laser lens went belly up after about 3-4 months...

I love MD technology but after the R500 fiasco combined with my *3* Playstation 1's (also due to laser lens failures) and my PS2's inability to play DVD's anymore I'm more than a little sour on the idea of buying anything with their name on it anymore.

I don't think the ChromeX has this problem, or at least I haven't heard about it. It has 7mW per channel output @ 16ohms and my headphones (sony v6) I think are 24 ohms. (my current cd player is 9mW per channel @ 16 ohms and there is more than enough output to drive the v6 properly)
