Why skip them, when you could make them better

there is an old saying that goes;

don't be your diagnosis, it's just a part of you.

meaning that if you have cancer for example, be yourself and not just a person with cancer. if it's all you talk about, then it's your problem that everyone notices it and talks about it.

seems fitting here.

i notice the pattern often with people that just came out of the closet.
instead of being Joe who happens to be gay,
they are "that flaming gay guy", i think his name is Joe.

sorry, but being transgender is not like having cancer. it is in no way shape or form a problem, a negative fact, or something to be ashamed of. it's a part of my identity as much as my knowledge and taste of music, of which i speak much more vocally on this forum.

i feel like you were trying to be nice, but this just did not come out well.

maybe i could been more eloquent or used a better comparison,
but you are still missing the point.

COR version- talk about something else for a change and odds are that peeps will not badger you as much.

this is fitting, but it's easy to overlook that she isn't the only one bringing the point up. it comes up in any conversation she participates in now, almost as a matter of course. it's good that avana is proud and happy with herself. after feeling repressed and confused for so long it's only natural to want to talk about it, to enjoy defending oneself even.

i think your analogy with joe the homo was pretty good but with avana on TA here there's both action and reaction. the instances of her coming under attack have occurred most often as the latter, imo.

i agree, but it's better to just let the fire die instead of feeding it.

If a dedicated group of morons kept bringing up some part of my life in conversations unrelated to it, I would get pretty fucking irritated, too. I think Avana's reactions have been entirely understandable.

Huge +1 but I like VAR's thoughts, too. So far you guys have come closest to what I've been wanting to say, as I'm getting a little tired of this infesting every thread and think avana's resentment is both warranted, on her part, but completely unnecessary, regarding what she's reacting to.
