Haha, if my friends wanted to leave a party before me I'd show them to the exit and wish them a goodnight.

I think the nice thing about rolling up solo and meeting people is there isn't this expectation of companionship. A lot of people, and I've been guilty of this, latch onto their group usually because they're too afraid or anxious to graze the dance floor alone. But when you meet up instead you can just roam around and chill with your friends you see when you want to and then disappear into the darkness with out having to tell everyone your plans.

Just fucking do it. If you see me we can bullshit, though I've been out half as much lately that will probably start changing in a month or so.

Oh, and on the getting home thing, just plan on getting a cab and keep enough wits about you. You never really want to be black out drunk where people can take advantage of you. We used to do that shit in college but then you start losing wallets, forgetting you lent people money or worse end up jumped. Know your limits / dosages

I feel the total opposite. Thank god he DOESNT like the music. Now I can choose my fun nights with him, or have a good reason to go sans Boyfriend and with my friends if I want to with out the ol ball and chain!

haha! (With all due respect of course, I love the guy!) <3 <3 <3

Not to say that I don't like partying with people/friends, but I just need to let it be known that I've had some of the greatest times of my life when I happened to be alone... Ibiza solo ftw!

haha thats why I leave his ass home!! (or send him off with his own friends). I actually prefer it this way. We have tons of things we can do together and still have fun, but this gives us a chance to be with our friends and go solo sometimes. Its much healthier, IMO, to have your own life, separate interests, and not be with each other 24/7. Makes the times you are around each other that much more enjoyable

btw, he doesnt HATE the music per se, but he does hate clubs.....with a passion.

I agree---I've been down the road of dating someone who wasn't into the music---it's such a big part of my life and my guy needs to understand that. Most guys (if not into the music/clubbing) would think I was going to a club for other reasons than to see a DJ play...and I'm sure they wouldn't understand why I travel to see them...

Ok, sorry this thread is going in a totally different direction, but this I have to respond to. I completey respect your opinion, however, this part of your post is exactly the reason why I have the opposite thoughts on the subject.

Who gives a crap if a guy thinks you are "going for other reasons?" That just sounds like the guy has major issues, and really has nothing to do with actually enjoying the music together.

I am ALL FOR relationships that can enjoy each others hobbies, and I would never put down that you or AY Star would like compatible partners in that sense. That is totally awesome if you can find someone like that.

But, that being said, I happen to be very lucky in the fact that my "partner" not only is accepting of my choices/hobbies, but encourages me to enjoy them. I have gone all over the world (often by myself) and he has been nothing but encouraging, happy and trusthworthy. Aside from the sincere, lame jokes about me leaving him for Ferry (LOL right right!), not once has he been anything but supportive and positive. I wouldnt have it any other way I think that is a sign of a healthy relationship, and I would take a healthy relationship with a guy who doesnt love EDM over an unhealthy, untrustworthy relationship with a guy who loves EDM.

Maybe I am just reading too far into your post, but I think that the part I highlighted is the exact reason why music is important to me, but not THAT important in the grand scheme of things. Im able to enjoy the music just as much now as I did before I met him, and that is really, really important to me.

I like doing both. Going out with friends is fun, but not when they want to leave early, start to not like the music, ect. If they want to leave, I will see them the next day. I like to do my own thing, and meet a bunch of people doing so. Usually know some people that are at the club anyway that I can rely on to be their till close. But going out with friends is also good too. Making memories can only happen for so long, and why not make the best out of the time you can spend with some people.

i understand what you mean for sure, but the traveling some people do atleast once a month to see the same dj play in a different city is def a lil strange imo and if i was in a relationship i would find that a lil disrespectfull and suspect

That's why you'd need to make the person understand so it doesn't come off as disrespectful... I don't think anyone besides us (legitimate EDM fans) understand what being a true fan of EDM / seeing DJs perform is really like... so if we happen to have a significant other that isn't into it like we are, we just have to ensure them that it's 100% fine if we're traveling to see a DJ / nothing out of the ordinary for us. If they're not okay with this, then obviously that person isn't worth keeping around for the long term.

Anyway, that's just my .02.

kinda the same... mine loves the music but feels that he can listen to the music anywhere and doesn't need to go to a club to enjoy it. He has had his fair share of party days but he is just done with it. He would much rather chill and home but he doesn't stop me from going out and enjoying myself. He doesn't give two shits about any dj's or who even wrote or produced the track for that matter. What matters to him is the track itself.

A lot of people (non edm) do not understand the concept of going to a club/festival/whatever for the music/DJ.

Majority of people think clubs = instant hook ups, debauchery, orgies....
