Just dl'd about 3GB worth of Oslo Nights sets. Can't fucking stop listening. Shit's amazing. Also, I used to religiously follow ASOT up through say... ASOT 250. Thereafter, it was a sad slide down. Excellent sets became an exception, rather than norm.
Seeing Armin @ DC Armory was very sad. my first immersion into trance, X, and the sin that sucked me into warp that was the last 12+ years happened there. But like the saying goes, you can never go home again.
Watching Armin doing Jesus poses up on stage with the set and music focused on the cult of DJ saddened me the fuck out. No longer peeps were gathering to just enjoy the vibe, music, and a little mischief. They were there to fist pump to their idol. They were there to be Jesus'd. They were there to see Armin go through his trade mark motion. Predictable. Commercial. Much like a fat Elvis in his jump suit.
I realized that at one point I envied the guy. Now, I felt bad for him. He started with pure intentions but ended up being sucked in by "the precious". He became....
(drumrolll please)
THE TRANCE GOLEM!
(que suspicious hamster clip)
srsly. I know that in between counting his millions, he probably remembers the first time getting in front of a big crowd and getting butterflies. He must remember when his love of music was more visible than his love of money and being a brand.
Aw, who the fuck am i kidding.
/drunken rant.
