Fuck the cool kid music. Sasha needs to go back to his late 90's early 00's dark, banging progressive persona.

I want this Sasha-

new bald hipster Sasha is not as awesome

They even admit it. See this interview with bill patrick:

Yeah I certainly hear their stuff as post-GU style prog. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but since that GU sound got old that crowd seemed to go to mnml, tech-house, and now to this american sounding stuff. This is probably why I am not surprised at this tracklist.

mix is downright boring. Same tempo, same sound...full hour. Funny how he's a house guy now. No redeeming quality about it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was some anytown dj pretending to be sasha and doing a bad job at it.

Sasha without his twinkly melodies just ain't the same. He's one of the only DJ's in the scene who can literally start a new trend. Shame that he doesn't have enough confidence in himself now.

Hell Yes.

The sets I caught at lotherton hall and creamfields around that time were some of my greatest clubbing memories.

Couldn't agree more. I really don't get it: when he started the warehouse project gigs it was a return to that form and they were sold out in a second, not to mention they reset his status as a legend again.

Playing this sort of stuff doesn't do him justice, but in fairness, I think one thing he's guilty of in recent times is playing a little too much for the intended crowd - that Pete Tong Pacha gig is a prime example of this. Same story with this mixmag CD and that kiddie crowd that still read mixmag (if any) will lap this stuff up. Also we maybe have to factor in what he/mixmag could get licensed for the CD.

I wish he would play what people love him for: dark, energetic, moody prog and house interspliced with beautiful melodies.

He played a lot of this at Sutra and everyone really got into it.

I really enjoyed this but then again I'm a sucker for Todd Terje productions.

At this point in Sasha's career he has nothing to prove so it's cool to see him dip into something a bit different.

1) played to a nowhere near capacity ruby skye during halloween weekend
2) played at sutra(had never been reduced to having to do so)
3) playing at voyeur next year.

So playing at Sutra and Voyeur is indicative of someone's career going downhill?

Interesting.

Someone should probably tell Markus Schulz, Cosmic Gate, Mark Knight, Thomas Gold, Chris Lake and pretty much everyone else that their careers are in trouble

No offense but none of those guys are even in the same league as Sasha.

You have to realise that sasha was one of the most respected Dj's going as far back as the very early 90's - most of the guys on your list were still in school then.

I've been following Sasha since I first got into EDM. I was listening to Northern Exposure around the same year it came out thanks to my older brother and sister beings fans of his at the time.

I don't personally see the correlation between playing these venues and your career going downhill.

He doesn't have to play these venues but he's choosing too. Nothing wrong with a smaller intimate setting. It has to get old playing festivals your whole life.
