His productions are INCREDIBLE... and unless you produce music you wouldn't know the degree of difficulty it takes to accomplish the level of quality he has with the tracks he's made. With such amazing talent... yes I expected a lot more...

but...

Sounds like I am ridiculous then.

As for december 17th... can't can't can't wait for hernan cattaneo... now that man understands his responsibility and is a pioneer. =]

Dude...

I don't know you can expect a guy who makes stuff like this to play non-cheesy sets. He co produces with tiesto for crying out loud.

He makes lowest common denominator pop-electro cheese. It's not a knock on his skills as a producer, though. Some of the most gifted producers in the world spend all their time working with Katy Perry and Britney Spears. It takes an incredible amount of work and talent to make this stuff and that's OK. The problem comes from expecting a guy who is known for making cheesy pop to play something other than cheesy pop. You wouldn't expect Timbaland to drop a deep house DJ set, so why expect that from Hardwell?

+1

I'm not real knowledgeable about Hardwell but i had thought he was along the same lines as Chuckie/Afrojack musically... so what you heard on Monday to me seems exactly what I would have expected.

What are these incredible productions he's done so I know? (not trying to be a smart-ass..i truly don't know what tracks/remixes he made his name with).

That's exactly how I feel. If an artist/DJ is getting his productions played on mainstream clubs or by any of the mainstream DJ's such as Guetta, Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, I wouldn't expect some forward thinking from them. Hardwell is pretty mainstream IMO.

I know we need that. Unfortunately the new wave of DJ's mostly caters to the masses which have a very narrow attention span and mostly want only familiar music.

If Hardwell would've started getting all Hernan on his crowd that used to the harder sound he would've cleared the dance floor. As a business man, that's a bad move. Remember, when DJ's blow up that big they are no longer just a "DJ." They become a business and people start depending on them to feed their families. If he starts taking big risks like that, than he could loose his crowd quick.

I wasn't there, but what I do when I play unknown tracks is that I follow them by a known track. That way I don't loose the crowd. He should've done that. But who knows what went through his mind. Maybe he was playing for the girls, which most mainstream DJ's do.

BTW, I doubt I'll go to Hernan. I wanna go but I'm booked that night and I finish at 2am.
