Does this not just scream... well... screamo?
Big glasses, weird hair, neon colors, and whatever is popular that moment.... It lasts a few years, then they move on to something new.
Rather than sit on here crying about it, we should be melding out minds together to anticipate the next big scenester movement so that we can cash in on it!

LOL yeah but kids (on reddit at least) are getting all crazy about dudes like Balam Acab or Holy Other, and they're doing a european tour including a stop at Berghain which is about as cred-ridden as it gets. Salem has a bad rap but I think the "genre" has already moved past them.
It's bass music with texture and softness. I think it's got a ton of potential as a post-brostep landing ground for a lot of the kids who are going to outgrow/get bored of it in the next year or so. Remember, we're talking about scenesters, not necessarily the masses.
