Well I'm new here, but not at all new to "threats" against our pursuit of happiness ... so .... I want to begin by saying that the only music video that I've ever had removed from youtube was because of a complaint from a "rights owner" based in Italy.
And the remaining video that I've uploaded on my most current account is blocked in only one country, Germany. But my girlfriend also had a couple of uploads blocked in every European country except France, Spain, UK and Romania (plus all of North America) or something on those lines.
The ONLY reason this bill is before the US Congress is because it was demanded by multi-mega-corporate entities such as Pfizer (the largest pharma in the world) and the "Hollywood machine" ... our "beloved" movie makers, who happen to be one of the most perennially persistent pushers for intellectual property rights protection, which is why it is 99% impossible to copy any Region 1 DVD that was made after 2008; etc, etc, etc; and therefore (b) I REALLY WISH people would STOP believing or insisting or PROPAGANDIZING (as this topic did from the very first) that it's always the "American Government" at the HEART of trying to break the whole ******* world. They're often no more than pawns of much bigger World-Movers-and-Shakers that, in plain truth, WE ALL SUPPORT OR ENABLE in one way or another.
GoDaddy, idiots, but thank God they pulled their support SOPA yesterday for fear of backlash. And Google, in consort with Facebook, LinkedIn and others, is pushing Congress for alternatives. But it's a hard sell for Google's credibility after having been threatened with a $500 million fine for enabling/encouraging the illegal sale of prescription drugs. Sometimes a board of corporate morons just ASKS to get whacked up 'side the head. Anyway ...
SOPA is NOT very likely to pass (as similar efforts have not) because the legislators don't understand what they're doing. Thus the smart ones should easily recognize that if it did get passed, it would immediately be challenged and fail constitutional muster and judicial review.

SOPA will not be passed.
