stop viewing these as two different things. Chord progressions are a product of melodies. Not the other way around.

Okay I think I finally got it!

Warning: I'm not too sure if you would consider what i produced to be noise or music lol, consider yourselves warned.

These are just the raw elements to the "song", as in I did not add white noise or risers/breaks etc, because i don't know how to get to those points of a song without it sounding bad/wrong. Also all instruments used are just basic presets. Oh and the ending is just a separate chord progression with a melody i tried to add to it, but the thing is i just feel stuck like there is no where to go after it.

well here is the link let me know what you think I can do to improve or to help move my track further etc.. any advice helps so much.

Thank guys

Good point, this whole time i have been completely fixated as them being two different entities.

First part, sounds okay. Could definitely use further development. Your rhythm section is lacking. Second part - there's a bottom note off-key in the third chord on the piano progression.

Honestly, get out of your head and listen to other people's music for a while. There's about a million different directions you could take this but I've been where you're at. You're not in a bad place, but, if I'm reading everything about this thread in conjunction with your music, you lack perspective.

haha that's sick, you read me like a book. Recently I have been listening to a pretty narrow selection of songs over and over. I guess I need to expand my horizons.

About the rhythm thing, like i feel as soon as i try and add something, it just sounds cluttered or to many sounds are going on at once and it just ruins it. Even if I added like just a basic beat to it. Any ideas on how to get better at this besides messing around till something works? because so far im not having much luck with this approach

btw that's amazing how you could listen to that and figure out which note in a chord was out of place o_0. How are you able to do this? Does it come from being able to play an instrument?

Cool. This is the shit you're going to be listening for when you take some time off from listening to the same music, over and over. See what other people are doing, outside your genre-centric influences, and steel what you like. Listen to how people in your genre develop their rhythm.

That's nothing and comes with experience, and probably has a little to do with playing keyboard - although I'm mediocre at playing by most standards. There's people who could tell you the exact note without having to plink it out on the keyboard. It's just counting, basically.
