all your points are based on a misconception of how the industry and business in general work. So yes. It is getting frustrating having to repeat myself to someone that seems to have this idea about how things work. You don't. And that is why i am loosing my patience. Having to say the same thing over and over over to someone , who somehow , seems to think he has any fucking idea what so ever how things work, how things don't work, whether it is in place or not and the common sense to link one accepted truth to a fucking solution i presented, not a whole, but at least a fucking start. Yes. I am not enjoying this one bit. I won't touch on any of your finer points because of what was said prior. Your points are flawed and based on a system that doesn't work,

The idea is simple. How one could take something so simple and twist it is beyond me. I wanted to buy a track, but because of the current system in place, your scene lost the opportunity to make money. This is me. This happens about 30 times a month. I'm 30. I don't really listen to dance. Now use your monkey brain and try to understand the gist of the original post. Try to connect the dots. MAybe open your mind up to the possibility that there are alot of people like me, listening to podcasts because really, i don't listen to enough to buy it or even want to bother on beatport so I listen to podcasts I enjoy. But when a track is played I like, that little meta info that is so fucking easy to put is not there.

Ok. This is why i'm fed up. Because you can't see past the one time that i mentioned and imagine that there are probably thousands of people in the same boat, wanting to spend money, but can't because djs won't support their own fucking scene.

the same thing could be said for tv programs and adverts i've lost count the times either myself friends or family have said "i really like this song playing now on the tv who is it ".

And guess what the answer is fuck knows because very often the artist is not credited or showed to us after the advert is finished. i wonder how much money is lost there?

well the fact it is being use, money is being made. But a free podcast , which given the dj, is most likely illegal , promoting the dj but doing nothing for the actual producer who is not suing you because he is too busy trying to make a decent living. if this doesn't seem a little fucked, well fuck me.

That's a little different. The advertiser isn't advertising the artist. They're using a song to sell a product. Also, most times you can google that information. You can't really google "song between 30:30 and 35:50 on DJ NoName's November 17 Podcast."

i know but not everybody has the net and most wont bother to hunt it down via google. and yes the artist will be paid something its true but you can still argue its money lost.

I had a couple of releases on big labels and they automatically put em on itunes, no big deal and it means nothing anyway.

You touched on over saturation. Well that's the biggest barrier to consumers. Hell I got oversaturated trying to choose perfume in a store for my wife, too many choices (about 100). If I go to a supermarket I waste time as I get transfixed on say the oriental section wondering whether I should be buying all this stuff.

Overload leads to people being unable to buy and anyway do us as consumers know about many films comming out? There are hundreds per month now, and it's difficult to know what to watch. Music is 100 times more supplied.

True, simply getting your track on iTunes alone might not do much for you, but there is much more potential sell large numbers compared to Beatport, if your track does well.

Also, getting back to the idea of glory hunts, this has been my experience:

Hot Babe: you have songs signed to labels?!!! No way, where can I buy them?
Me: Beatport
Hot Babe:

Versus:

Hot Babe: you have songs signed to labels?!!! No way, where can I buy them?
Me: iTunes
Hot Babe: Do you like my new thong?

In hindsight, I should've gone with this witty retort instead:

on request. it all depends on what the client asks. Stroke the shaft, craddle the balls and swallow the gravy. Best line from tropic thunder. Well that and "survive".
