I know when I tried finding someone to stay with in Amsterdam, one guy responded to me saying he got an average of 40 requests a day (mind you, his was probably the best/most interesting looking profile). I'm sure there'll be people willing to stay with you. Don't be shy about saying no.

It's legit. Once you become familiar with the people/scene & only deal with those who have a good rep or are recommended it's smooth sailing.

Andrea I'm a member of this website. I never actually stayed at anyone's home through this website while I was in Europe but I know people who did and had great experiences.

I tried to connect to go for coffee's and what not but it never actually materialized.

If I had my own place, I would definitely open my door. It's a fantastic way to meet people. Plus, if you are a traveller, you could end up making connections in other countries as well.

The problem when I was travelling, so were most of the people on couch surfing because it was summer. Or they just didn't have a couch.

I've updated my status and actually just received a message about a guy wanting to come to my area and go snowboarding...

Go for it girl, my advice though, maybe meet them for a coffee first before inviting them to your home. The vibe you get from someone in person could be much different than the one you get from their profile
