If you could prove that the mall was knowingly renting out space for the drug users, or purposely turning a blind eye when they were informed of such users, then, yeah you could build a case for shutting the mall down.

That's so silly 'cause it sounded like you just described security in some clubs. LOL.

Since (it seems) they responded to most DMCA takedown notices (even if capping the # per day) I would guess the thing leaving them most vulnerable are the internal emails. This will take a long time to sort out and the timing with SOPA/etc. is no accident.

TA sometimes receives angry emails (poor attempts at a 'takedown notice') because someone posted a photoshop of them but for the most part I direct them to wherever the image is hosted (since TA doesn't allow uploads (outside of avatars)).

I have to give credit to MU for succeeding in a space where TONS have failed miserably. Mind you, the global adoption of the Internet (and high speed) made it a perfect storm. These guys came in at the wrong time:

quote:
Prior to the creation of the current social networking website, the MySpace.com domain name was registered in 1998 to an online storage and file sharing firm. Originally launched in April 1999 as FreeDiskSpace.com, its founders, entrepreneurs Paul Hirner and Ari Freeman, changed its name to MySpace.com in 2000. Registration was free and users were able to obtain a small disk quota which would gradually increase if they referred new members to the site. Due to slow service and a lack of revenue, the site shut down and sold all of its users' information in 2001.

^^^ when I started TA a large chunk of mixes were stored on this site (since bandwidth was so expensive back then).

Guess I better go out and try and find some Agent Orange.
