About 3/4 is fantastic, but it slides a bit down towards the end. I love the way the beat accentuates the rest of the elements in that "deep" fashion, but it kinda feels like he ran out of ideas towards the end.
RA politics? Except the fact that they're the epitome of EDM jaded hipsterism? Fuck. Only the most obscure, weird, experimental super sonic alien minimalistic pseudo-music can catch their attention. How they managed to give Villalobos & Loderbauer's "Re:ECM" a 4.5 is beyond me, this being just one example. Terre Thamenlit's "Midtown 120" also got a 4.5. Really?
Don't get me wrong, I love the guys, but sometimes it feels like they need to give lesser grades to good music in-order to boost their imagé as creative EDM critics.
I'm gonna record my breath while sleeping and release it on Kompakt under "The Chimney Drift Off Ensemble - Stories from the Green Grasses of REM". |
LOL Im not sure if you just agreed or disagreed with me. I think Discogs is a better place to find music based on reviews. The reviewers are more objective. People write when they feel inspired, not because someone plopped a cd down on someones desk and said hey I need you to review this by tomorrow type thing. I'm not saying that's how they do it since I dont work for RA, but there has to be SOME sort of deadline/rush aspect to it at least some of the time.
