I hear elements of nu-style hardstyle pop up in electro and prog house a lot recently, mostly in the kicks, but if you played hardstyle to the people that listen to listen to the HS influence electro and prog house, they wouldn't like it. Even nu-style HS is too hard for mainstream audiences, and even if was, as you said "HS at 128 bpm", it wouldn't have the mass appeal that influence stuff has, because the influenced stuff still sounds very close to electro and prog house.
