They're much happier buying a company with an innovative breakthrough, copying a company's innovative product, or suing them and getting a chunk of $ through their insane list of patents. Just compare their product innovation in the last 10 years to that of Google or Apple...

When your core customers are businesses, you have to more 'stable'. In the consumer market, you are right, they are behind. But like I said, there is a reason, and I can understand it.

Product integration, and upgrade cycles suck.

Absolutely, I agree. I'm not saying their business model and methods are bad because the company has maintained growth and is highly profitable which speaks for itself. I might even say out of Apple, Google and MS, they have the best methods of generating revenue. I'm just saying as a consumer I don't like it.

I do software dev/qa across all OS' and find this hard to believe. There are a lot of little tricks that can be learned on win7 that can make it infinitely easier to use. WinXP is atrocious compared to win7 when browsing folders and subdirectories. Application launch times are also 25-50% slower. Also the inability to access more than 3.7 gb ram means alot more page file writing (slow). Even if you have 64bit XP, its buggy as hell.

For the average user i guess there is something to be said about familiarity.. in which case XP might seem quicker since you're more familiar with it, but i can guarantee you that it isnt quicker in anyway.

All valid points. And you're right about the speed thing but at home when relaxing I don't care about something take 2 seconds instead of 3 to open. End of the day, to each their own it's just my personal preference.

Got to play with this on a tablet today and it rocks. The tablet market is really going to heat up come Win8 release in the fall.

Loading this on to my laptop this week.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The MS spends $8 billion a year on R&D (#1 in the world, IBM is #2 at $3 billion). If you knew the things MS Research was working on you might be able to make a credible comment.

You're part of the Apple sheep community. I wouldn't expect you to do otherwise.

Relax bud. I'm speaking as a consumer, with a consumer level of intelligence, talking about things they've delivered at the consumer level. Never said I know all the ins and outs of the company I just prefer the business methods of their competitors. Eg look at the difference between XP and W7 from a consumer standpoint. Different yes but 8 years should produce a lot more change than that. Look what Apple or Google does in a few years, much more significant purely imo.

Read this: http://venturebeat.com/2012/03/01/d...t-have-an-xbox/

Kinect is just one example of the innovation.
