What is your vibe that you bring to this "floor"? How did this vibe develop over the course of your 5 years of residencies I've never heard of in Atlanta? |
Great Question. Back before I got started really djing I was a dancer. I got a great deal of satisfaction going out and getting all hot and sweaty dancing. It was beyond fun for me. It was a release. It was time where I could shed life's bullshit and just be me. I didn't (and still don't) care what people think about me whenever I'm out on the floor. All I do is allow the beats to move me in whatever direction they see fit. And I don't stop until I'm physically exhausted or about to pass out, or until the lights come on. And even then, its off to an AfterHours party somewhere to keep going.
Now, this vibe was created mostly because I was exposed to great music, great people, and the vibe of all vibes. Back where I'm from it existed like I've seen nowhere else, and one that I haven't experienced since. But, it still resides deep within and is part of the reason why I remain devoted to what it is that I do. Its powerful if you ever really experienced it.
Now to clairify my Atlanta presence.
I really haven't had one other than going to parties and enjoying being able to hear top tier dj's every weekend. Back home I wasn't exposed to them. I did have a chance to hear a different type of dj, dj's like Danny the Wildchild, Ming & FS, Evol Intent, Doc Martin, Spree, DJ Culture, Kid Icarus, and many others. It was a different type of atmosphere.
I feel like I'm a kid in a candy store living in Atlanta. There are so many great dj's that come through that just having the privledge of hearing them live supercedes that of being a dj. So, I have to admit that my focus at least on the weekends hasn't been on getting out and presenting myself as a dj. But more of a person who still and will always enjoy a good show.
