He's talking about Korg M1 synth sound, often used in deep/tech house aka boring house music to emphasise basslines. That synth has been around since the end of 80s, and it was a staple in an early 90s process of sophisticating house music, process that had an aim to inhibit its wild side. People like Marc Kinchen have been implementing it almost since the day one (HERE is a track from '89 that uses it somehow differently), though I still think the track from '92 I posted earlier is the first one that uses it in a "modern way".

Thanks to that pointless Steve Angello and Laidback Luke mix a couple of years back, this one still gets absolutely hammered by every commercial house DJ in the world. Probably one of the biggest house records of all time.
And yes, this sound is extremely boring and over-used. It is to commercial house what the supersaw is to uplifting trance, or the LFO wobble is to brostep.

Ahhhh memories of my teenage years. Living in the states in piss hole oc the only dance songs you could hear was what mtv played late at nights on their dance show. I was probably the only teenager who used to stay up at nights to watch that show and headbangers ball. Dont care what anyone says, Show me love and everything but the girls missing todd terry remix will always be played in my house, car, or ipod. Along with the klfs america what time is love, those songs got me into edm.

I never cared about "Show Me Love" but hell yes Todd Terry's remix of "Missing" is something I have in my iPod too. As overplayed track as it is but still. No other track reminds me of ibiza better than that.
Missing is a great example of taking a pop song and making it into a wonderful edm song by real simple additions that dont need a massive amount of extra stuff. Classic early house song.

Oh God, Missing. I fell in love with that the first time I heard it on the radio in the mid-90's. That tune also helped pull me into EDM, I just wouldn't know it for a few more years.
