the biggest problem with weed legalisation is that its addictive. Do we wanna see children addicted to it at young age? (look at 12yrs old with cigs).
Also, weed is an entry level drug to hard drugs. I know not every pothead does crack, you get the idea. |
addictive???....cmon malek...weed is sooooooooooooooo not addictive...do u mean addictive as in cocaine or heroine??...or as in cigarettes...funny thing is coke, heroine, and cigarettes are more addictive than marijuana...as crazy as that sounds....anyhow, kids who smoke cigs at age 12, or any age for that matter, will become addicted, both mentally and habitually...marijuana does not have any addicting additives, as found in cigs and "hard" drugs...the high manufactured from the drug may create users to frequent the drug but the drug itself does not have addictive elements inherent to the nature of the drug...if at best, the drug creates an habitual dependency, the action of smoking something, anything...like smokers trying to quit smoking have trouble due to the need to inhale smoke every x times a day....weed, at best, is addictive in that manner...
as for weed being a "gateway" drug to harder drugs??...well, this topic is touchy and a sensitive one...some feel that it is, while some feel that its not...as for me, i admit that i probably never would have tried ecstacy if it wasn't for my minor love of weed...i say minor b/c the ironic thing is, i actually started to smoke more weed after beginning to drop ecstacy so its kind of a reverse situation...ecstacy was my gateway into weed...haha...anyhow, its nothing to be proud of but i know what makes me happy and i pursue that...
I would never ever fuk wit cocaine, heroine, acid, or any seriously addicting hard drug...i'm thinking of tryin shrooms but not even sure when im going to do that...so basically, i enjoy weed and the occasional pill at clubs...am i a threat to do harder drugs?...me no...the next joe, maybe...but that shouldn't alter the legalization of weed...trust, confidence, and maturity is what the gov't must convey and show to their people...not fear, doubt and being worrysome...people forget that when alcohol was illegal, people abused it even more and charged ridiculous prices and offered dangerous-dirty products...kinda like whats happening with weed for the past 50 years...
if the public is allowed eventually to smoke weed legally, i think that the next step is to educate the public...then perhaps myths such as weed addiction and being a gateway to harder drugs would not be such an issue...especially being a gateway to harder drugs...i knew how dangerous harder drugs were: they are very addictive and cause heavy dependency but i learned this from friends, school and street knowledge...once weed is legal, and if teens over 18 are going to try it, the governement has a great opportunity to report harmful effects of weed, as they already do in canada on cigarette boxes... this could educate the general public and make them clearly understand the dangers of harder drugs in relation to weed....once poeple understand the difference between weed and other hard drugs, im sure drugs like weed would be used in moderation and probably people that never would've known truths about weed and other hard drugs would finally get some education...that in itself would be worth legalizing the drug...as it is right now...users think they know everything but most users of weed, or any other drug, know the effects that is passed on from word of mouth....is that the best source??...hell no...
im not knockin any of the non-smokin views but factual accuracy matters and thats why im replying...sorry malek..hehe...but weed is not addictive as u think and definitely not a gateway to harder drugs...its been documented and profiled already...i'll do some research for articles if u want malek...just lemme know if u want that info...
regardless of what we say here, teens or going to do drugs or try them atleast...if its legal, then the chances to educate them would be easier and also the government could regulate the usuage by its citizens...as it is now, illegal, kids listen to myths..abuse excessively cuz its cool to do illegal things, and furthermore, without the proper education, kids think that all drugs, including harder drugs, are not as dangerous as it seems cuz weed wasn't dangerous at all...just fun and care-free...thats the danger when drugs are illegal...misinformation and assumptions...which might proceed into the consumption of harder drugs...so legaliztion doesn't sound too bad to me...not cuz i enjoy weed but there are many other positive results from legalizing it...
and i haven't even begun to talk of the economics of legalizing weed for the governement...
thats for another time...hehehe...but enuough rambling for now...sorry bout the novel...i just get a lil passionate sometimes...
omfg i just checked this post and it says that it was posted by DJ AI, my roomate..oops..it was by me, jparknyc, by tha way...im using our living room computer and it must be logged in under his name....sorry bout confusion...but he smokes weed too so i don't think he will mind...hehe..
