my thoughts there are a lot of tracks i don't like in that set to justify a download and consequent listen then, what is that techno track that is so amazing?¿ He used to play proper techno, now the "techno" he plays is bleep bleep pitched noise in the style of Dustin Zahn - Stranger to Stability, once it was fresh and pumping now all the trance producers featured in ASOT or GDJB seems to think "we are incorporating other styles into our music, we are pioneers!!"
no.
I hate that Dustin track and I never considered it to be fresh

I was just thinking the same thing. I saw him finish at creamfields this summmer and he was the best although the crowd were tired. He played a style I hadn't really heard before. It was pumping and hypnotic, at times like pre 1998 trance. he can play deep but also uplifting and he seems to have a fresh sound. I have just downloaded his global gathering 2012 set and it is deadly. can't stop listening to it.
I went to see Van Dyk in London the other week and was disappointed. He has been my number one for 15 years but his evolution album is too commercial and his sets are too. I hoped I would never say that. He used to be harder and deeper. now he plays too much male vocal tracks or vocal in general. vocal is good but not too much.

What's everyone's take on his rework/theft of Cass & Slide - Perception?
Not bad, but shit I'd be angry if I were Cass and Slide!

They didn't even like the fact a vocal was added to the track way back when.

Cass & Slide are credited on the release so I doubt it's a bootleg.

The vocal in this version is pretty dire tbh, but overall the track is okay, some nice ideas.

The vocal was utterly pointless in the first place. Track was perfectly fine as was, but someone (not Cass & Slide) decided it needed vocals, so they literally plunked some singing on top of the original track.
