above & beyond changed radio show name to group therapy radio.

those that keep saying you miss 'trance', 'trance' still exists, just have to look for it.

I was listening to an Arnej podcast last night, and was extremely impressed by this song:

Not sure if that link works, since I'm posting from my phone.

I'm shocked that above & beyond would play this song. I always had the impression they played cheesy trance...you know, the kind that kids listen to.

Yeah, I never stopped loving trance - I just kept adding new genres to my repertoire. And have found a lot of new inspiration for my own tracks in the process.

It's a little tragic that here in WA, the only trance DJs/ producers I see still actively playing trance have all gone into the slower, more progressive stuff.

I always was a big fan of the DuMonde, Alphazone, and Ace Da Brain school of trance :P

Its nice to have you back Julia!

Dumonde remains one of my favs to this day! BANGIN!! Flutlicht and S.H.O.K.K. were also killing it back then, as was Cosmic Gate and Blank & Jones, both of who are dead to me now.

Re: FAO: People who don't like trance music anymore

Wow glad to hear Miss Julia likes some Trance again.

As for me I still loved Trance and went out to Trance shows until late 2009. What it became (except for what was at the margins) really was out of sync with me. I still liked older Trance but found much more refreshing and interesting stuff in the House & Techno worlds those years in particular.

Always always loved Progressive but ya was excited when I moved back to LA and they stated having trance nights at Exchange but even that's been hit or miss. Just not a fan of the late 2009-2012 Trance sound except for rebels like J00F, Simon Patterson, Sean Tyas, DJ Eco and Otographic Music label.

Was starting to think maybe I didn't like Trance anymore until I went to see Above & Beyond's Group Therapy show and saw there was still some Trance out there that I really liked. Although people made me feel like an old fart for being one of the 15% of the crowd who knew the tracks from Tri-State (I'm only 23!!!) Was surpised by how much fun I had at the Armin vs. Markuz show but I really wasn't digging Armin's new stuff that he played at first.

I've always been way into diverse genres of EDM especially in college even when everyone was being a genre snob and got a reputation in DC of being that girl that was seen everywhere whether it was at a Trance show at the big club, a Techno night at warehouse, a House night on a Thursday night in an intimate club, or a really low key Drum & Bass night.

I agree with whoever said that it wasn't just your imagination. I liked Trance from the beginning til 2009 and then oh my it took a downturn. There were always the exceptions, but not even including the mainstream, it overall just took a turn I didn't like and it's starting to come out of it.

Trance fell off the tracks for a few years as producers were experimenting with different sounds with the EDM boom, but looks like the genre is making a comeback.

Its good to see that there are still trance lovers on this forum.

The only Trance I liked that was coming out from 2009-2012 besides DJ Eco & Hard Trance was music from Otographic music label and Tokyo Baleric Podcast

[Didn't discover them until after I left Japan!]

Very different kind of Trance I think, way less saccharine.

I haven't been keeping up with the podcasts but just stumbled upon the fact TATW is ending about minutes ago. What happened? I hope they keep the old episodes available as free downloads. The old stuff before 09 was awesome

I've always never really left trance like Julia. But contrary to those who say, trance never left though, it did weaken tremendously. A perfect indicator was a recent conversation I had with John Acquaviva, who is a resident DJ with INCOGNITO and who is a part-owner of Beatport. I said, "So I guess trance is still the biggest selling genre at Beatport right, with them still dominating DJ Mag?" and Acquaviva replied, "No, its one of of the slower genres of recent years, based on sales at Beatport. The biggest currently, of the last 2 years ago, is...tech house."

Just some food for thought.

Awesome track! Loved it!
