from what i've seen and read, the free syrian army would be a better turnout for syria in the long run than a continuous dictatorial regime.

democracy has to start somewhere if the people of syria want to have a better life for their children and their children's children.


The best thing the world can do right now is get a firm contact in the FSA, understand their objectives and have an agreement in return for support.

I think I'm going to have to disagree with you there. If Assad wasn't so chemical-weapon happy, I'd support him over the FSA. He's obviously terrible, but I don't predict good things for Syria after the FSA "takes control." As it is, though, the situation's completely FUBAR.

We'll see if Assad tries to self-destruct the country. Either way, though, Syria's fucked.

Syria easily has the capacity for thousands of chemical bombs.

According to articles I have read about Syrian chemical weapons, the components for sarin are stored in binary form, meaning two precursors that require simple mixing to activate.

Normally these "binary" chemical weapons are only combined like this just prior to use. In the case of Syria they do not have the complex delivery systems that the US and the Soviets had for binary weapons, where they mix in flight.

Reports are that the agents are being debinarized and loaded into conventional bursting aircraft bombs and possibly spray pods.

You don't do this unless you plan to use the weapons very soon because you can not rebinarize the precursors. Sarin also has a very short shelf life when it is in its final form, again a sign that their intent to use them is very clear.

Yea, nerve agents are pretty horrible things.

Basically you begin to sweat, your eyes dilate (they eventually though constrict to a pinpoint and you get tunnel vision), your body temp increases (wow sounds like the start of a good roll...).

Then you begin to twitch as your muscle system basically begins to misfire and then locks into firing mode (nerve agents prevent acetylcholinesterase from deactivating your muscles). You tend to then vomit, piss yourself, shit yourself and your diaphragm locks up and you die of asphyxiation.

Sadly your skin does not melt off, like in The Rock (that was VX, but its essentially the same effects, just different uses for it).

if anything major happens, i'll give up whoring.

but since it won't, I have nothing to worry about.

That movie basically made me interested in chemical weapons, haha, up till that point I was only mildly interested in them, mainly a nuke buff, but after that movie, man I learned everything I could about chemical warfare. Shits crazy.

Then again I was a very strange 10 year old...
