I am not talking about "filling" a dancefloor.

I didn't bring up "filling" a dancefloor. That's a different issue entirely. The physical rhythm of a crowd on a dancefloor is a direct manifestation of general human reactions to the rhythmic properties of music. The house tracks I play would bring a lot more energy to a dancefloor than those half-time drum 'n bass tracks, and I don't believe it's any different in your neck of the woods.

The beginning was interesting as I hadn't put too much time in reading the track list and wasn't sure where you were taking it. It almost sounded like you weren't really, either, but just kind of going with the flow and letting inspiration strike. (Kind of curious, actually, if you'd worked that out or were just intuitively mixing.) Some unexpected transitions later and you're making some interesting decisions that pull me out of what I'm doing (putting away laundry) to have a cigarette and concentrate on the mix.

It's not until the peak and release from the 125 or so BPM stuff, back into more ambient territory, that the clothes get hung. Everything was well mixed and it was great home listening. I suspect I'll hear it again to hear what I missed and also just because I really enjoyed it. Nice work, as always.

No, it was all planned. This isn't a live mix. If you read the tracklist, you'll see there's a couple of places where I throw in samples from other tracks, and do a significant re-edit on one track.

As I implied in the OP, I used the mixtape idea to be a bit looser and more diverse with the flow and the direction. I wanted to play a diverse collection of tracks that fitted the theme, and to be ultra-tight as well would be nearly impossible. I still think there's a definite structure and emotional journey here though, that reveals itself by the end.

And how does that relate to my earlier statement regarding the loss of rhythmic intensity and the effect it has on the climax of this particular set? I don't see how isolated dancefloor occurrences prove anything as to whether the progression and set-flow was executed properly in this case. It's all about context, if this half time D&B is played after a long night of downtempo and ambient then you will bring a lot of energy to the dancefloor as well.

I also pointed towards the multiple facets that make up a climax. Tempo is only one of these, it's not impossible to have a proghouse climax after a jungly build up, it just didn't feel convincing enough in this case. That's all I'm saying for now. If I can come up with a better analysis as to why this is after I've given it a few more listens then I'll let you know.

You were comparing two fictional dancefloors I presume, they're playing proghouse on one and D&B on the other. You didn't mention the act of playing one style after the other, in which case I'd find your claims a lot more questionable.

Something like:

Big ass house --> people dance.
half-assed D&B --> people don't.

Me:

You lost intensity when playing house after D&B in this case. No dancing was required in coming to this conclusion.
