The "boom" in the popularity of "EDM" is quite possibly the best and WORST thing that could ever happen to it. This show is a great example of the latter.
So, for all of the musical neophytes who watch whatever this extremely homogenized BS of a show, they'll enjoy it. But then again, judging by what I see on MTV as of late (haven't watched that network in 10+ years), that crowd will enjoy anything.
The way this show looks to be set up will make the scene look more cheap and tawdry than it already is now and should be. Basically, selling electronic music culture to the highest bidder. Whoever wins this show will probably be famous for 2 years plus until the newest flash in the pan fly by night DJ arrives. The whole concept really shits on DJs and producers who have been working on making something out of themselves for years, if not decades.
But I digress. The people on this show will be more of "faces" and "personalities" to sell a product rather than artists and talents. |
Who says you can't have the personality of going on the show as an og from the good era constantly shitting on the new school? I mean these TV shows love controversy that's how they get ratings, which one of you will be the next situation?
