If you are talking about the best version of Adagio for Strings its Skip Raiders - Another Day hands down 1000%.

all i have to say, is that i used to think tiesto was some type of god before and that these two tracks were masterpieces sent from the heavens above.

I think they are both alright... Ferry did a much better remix of adagio, i prefer that one

for me those tunes were when he began to lose a bit of his lustre

Traffic is simply ok; nothing special.
Adagio for Strings is definitely overrated; it's more "average" than Traffic itself.
Psykofuk is awful.

Being that Tiesto introduced me to the EDM scene, I'm always going to hold these tracks in high regard. His mix compilations, as well.

People will always put their two cents in and have something to say about him.

Whether you elitists like it or not, he's brought popularity to the EDM scene throughout the years from people who primarily listened to other genres of music. I think being able to reach that far out and spread this kind of music is a testament it itself. I wouldn't have evolved my taste in EDM and experimented as much as I have if it wasn't for Tijs introducing me to it in the first place. While I may not like the music he currently releases, it doesn't mean I'm going to discredit his older stuff that was great.

To be fair, These tracks came out at a time were even his most established fans were starting to scratch their heads. Remember he had a background in techno and rave music, and you could always hear that high energy fun-over-substance vibe come through in his productions. He was the self proclaimed anti-prog man, were guys like Armin really thought they were making deep and involving music.

When In My Memory came out we were all a bit confused by the chipmunk-vocal inoffensive chill-out fest. But there were still some real bangers on that album.
When Just Be came out we got traffic, and crap like Love Comes Again.
We were used to some questionable performances but this was really it?
Why was there nothing of Obsession-like calibre?
I mean I was alright with Traffic at first because it was still kind of danceable, especially the Montana edits he liked to play in his live shows. But when hearing it played endlessly on the radio you had to start getting your doubts.
I mean I see what they were trying to achieve here. He always had a thing for simplistic monotonous techno bangers. Just look at how long SO Project's Direct Dizko was part of his event playlist at the time. He just wasn't very good at making them I suppose.

Traffic sounds like horns from an angry motorist

Tiesto played a lot of pure techno-trance in his extended sets, on the 1-2 hour sets he used to play some classics and peak time euphoric trance thats it but whenever he got the chance he loved to play techno such as Umek - Gatex. Flight 643 and Traffic are his take to the music i believed he really loved to play. Both are as simple as effective.



Killer bassline.

I still can't get over how ridiculous that stage for that 2003 Tiesto concert is.
