But i argued your reasoning, not your argument.

your opinion is one of someone that is very into the underground nature of whatever it is you are into. I'm talking about someone like Aoki making millions while the producers that make the music he plays make nothing of the actual music. People want to buy that music. The problem is that there is some sort of kink in the system were djs don't seem to want to promote the music they play which they use to promote themselves, and artists don't realize that djs are such a small portion of potential sales that they restrict their music to such low sales that they have to become djs to make a living. It is a vicious circle. It is on both ends and it stems from the change in how music is distributed and promoted. EDM seems to be stuck in 2000 except that you could make a living back then because people bought compilation cds. They don't anymore. They want to buy singles.

Man, can you show me some statistics of Aoki selling records?
or any of that sort?
He's making his money from gigs, I'm 99% certain

It isn't so much about selling records, as having a imprint (or referal point) to push your shit (literally in this case) like it was cheap merch at the door.

It's not a vinyl label. There is no overhead.

Aoki is popular. I don't know why. That being said, you try and make money off of the plebs that don't know any better.

Yeah he succeeds at that, though marketing ain't the matter here, It's that down the road, most producers don't make money out of record selling, no matter if they are on aoki's label or michael mayer's, so basically still not enough people buy single tracks or ep's, not enough people who are not DJ's.

As I've said man, you're in Hong Kong, take a fucking 808 on the stage and a couple of friends with a sax and drums and jam shit out for the masses, that's more credible that you think, they're entitle you as the chinese dave matthew's band or something..

I play once or twice a week for the money (and free drinks and snatch...I also like playing music). I have a day job and produce 0 of the music that I play. As much as I hate those twats, I couldn't do it.

I would love to get my hands on an 808 here. You would think that they would be easy to find....but no.
