Trains in Eastern Europe suck. Take the bus, for the most part they are faster. The girls in Poland are hot. And the age of consent is 16, have fun with them. Girls in Slovakia are hot also and the age of consent is really low too, 15 I think? Anyways, it doesn't matter cause they won't go to the cops and you won't stay for too long. Eastern Europe is kind of drag really. But if you like easy sex and cheap booze and cigs. Then you're at the right place. The train rides are inexpensive.

I can't actually be a whole lot of help with this, as the way you're backpacking is kinda the opposite of how I did it. I was over in UK/EU for about 3 years, working in bars to save money then travelling somewhere new, rinse/repeat.

I took the bus (Eurolines, I think they were called) everywhere when going to new countries (with the exception of Spain, because I flew straight to Ibiza from Scotland and then went by boat to the mainland later), purely because I was travelling on a shoe-string, and it was the cheapest way to go. 12 hours in a bus definitely sucks ass, I can tell you. The trains are probably nicer and more comfortable. I did meet some cool people on the bus trips though, and ended up hanging out with them when we got to whatever the destination was.

Definitely stay in hostels - again, to meet people. I met some absolutely awesome people in various hostels. I also met some absolutely fucked-in-the-head people, but they make for good stories later, which is also part of the travel experience. Just keep an eye on your shit at all times

I've done it a couple times. Personally, aside from Berlin, I found a lot of the places in Western Europe kind of stale. What about Turkey, the Balkans, or even tossing in some of the countries from Ukraine to Bulgaria/Turkey? They're all relatively cheap too. I've been around the world a couple times and out of all the cities I've visited, the ones that always pop in my head before others are Lviv and Istanbul. Just thought I would throw something a bit different out there too.

jealous guys. this is one thing that i've always wanted to do, but haven't had the chance (or i guess made the opportunity). i am finally getting in a really good financial position so hopefully in the next year or so i can make a run to europe too.


for those of you that have done this. any sense of how much money someone should save up to do a month long trip roaming around? i need to do a little more research, but just curious. i think i might start saving for it now or it'll never happen right?

Depends. If you're doing the regular Western European trail, I would probably say anywhere between $100-$150 a day bare minimum. Though that's probably way too tight in France, Italy, Nordics, etc.

Go east and things get fun. I've had some fun days in Ukraine for no more than $30 (bed, food, drinks, touristy stuff, cafes, and all). Romania, Bulgaria, & Bosnia aren't much more, so I would probably budget $60 a day for those. And you may end up with extra $ left over too.

Floor, depends what you look for and where you go. Eastern Europe nightlife is a lot better but also more prone to dangers not in the rest of Europe. But sometimes it is worth it. Go to a hostel and do the bar tour with them or ask the staff which bars are safe. Pu$$y is easy over there or cheap enough. For a month you would at least need 2k for "free" pu$$y but if you are to use paid, 4-6k for fun.
