Everyone is so quick to jump on the promoters and venues for this stuff but when in actuality we as patrons need to take a good hard look at ourselves when we go out. Sure things are expensive for a night but at the end of the day it's better than not having any of your favorite music around the city you live. Just my .02 cents

you sound like an absolute tool to the industry if you ask me. Lets just get raped with 14 dollar drinks and cheesy music, go along with that? im all set. Maybe the clubs needs to realize that its not all about MONEY and its more about people experiencing the music like it should be. NYC is a huge house market, it dominates, but ya know what Esscala is bringing in every trance dj you can possibly imagine. If it was done right in florida ill put money people would show up. I hear a lot of people i know personally asking for more trance down in florida .

So you call me a tool because I'm giving you one of the reasons you don't see more trance bookings down here, makes sense to me. You're trying to tell me the drink prices at Santos and Pachita (where a lot of the Esscala events are held) aren't on that same pricing tier as the Miami clubs, yea I don't believe it because I know they are very close to same price. I see your where you're coming from about clubs needing to realize it's not all about money, great concept but at the end of the day if a venue doesn't make money you won't be partying in that venue anymore. I'll agree with you about the cheesy music part but not supporting the shit music in the beginning will never lead to who you want to see. Again it's all my opinion and just telling you guys what I've seen with trance acts and the figures at the end of the day.

This is what people were saying in NYC a year ago, that it was the patrons fault because nobody wanted trance. And it seemed to be that way, because nobody was showing up at Massive's shows and Made had jumped ship completely.

Then Esscala showed up out of nowhere and they seem to be doing JUST fine. They have a dedicated following because they started bringing in the right artists and doing things the right way.

I don't know if something similar could happen in Miami, but don't be so quick to blame the patrons. Maybe the promoters really do just suck.

Meh, Miami crowd though for the most part isn't looking to support trance right off the bat, so both are kinda to blame. They'll need some convincing.

so if trance is dead in miami, then what term would we use for the state of trance in Tampa? The AMP is killing me. I would suck it up and see a show there every now and again, but I teach high school and have a rule that I don't attend venues or functions where I know I will see students. Since I am not as seasoned as most of you, I expect a PM whenever there is something going on that I shouldn't be missing. help a brotha out.

Trance in Tampa amounts to how popular you are. In general a lot of trance fans are real finicky, and won't support you if you're some underground DJ.

Also, teach middle school lol

PS - My friend was a high school teacher, and has the same problem almost caught a few times as well.

You're SOL. All the trance shows in Tampa are 18+. Because without the 18 year olds, there wouldn't be enough tickets sold.

You could go to Martini Republic, Jackson's, or the Kennedy, but none of those venues ever book trance.

Shitty spot that trance is in, isn't it?
