The UK owns jack with regards to the trance scene. Everyone in this thread is bleating on about progressive DJ's with a few exceptions. But if you think about it the only real quality trance DJ's that the UK has are:
John OO Fleming
Guy Ornadel
Scott Bond
Erm, I'm struggling to think of any more....
Judge Jules is pants! He can not mix, when will people realise this?
Oakenfold has lost it. He plays watered down cheesy trance and produces pop albums. Granted in 97/98 he was immense, but I try not to compare that to what he does now.
John Kelly is disgraceful, I detest someone who plays exactly (and I mean EXACTLY) the same set 3 times in a row!
Scotland has produced he-haw in the way of trance DJ's. If it wasn't for someone like Paul Mendez doing the Jacob & Mendez thing plus working with MIKE we would have contributed pretty much zilch.
When it comes to Europe things are different...
Tiesto, maybe not the finest exponent of mixing but is up there with the best. His tunes have pushed the genre forward.
PVD, his productions are beautiful, his mixing is good (not god-like in the way some members have described it). He is good for the genre.
Armin, his sets are beautifully constructed and is becoming one of the finest producers around.
MIKE, can any UK producer match these productions. I beg anyone to tell me a UK producer who consistently produces the goods like MIKE has.
Switzerland has given us some of the finest hard-trance DJ's/producers out there. Where is the UK equivalent of SHOKK or Flutlicht?
Ferry Corsten is perhaps the finest producer out there. His DJ sets are uplifting, rarely cheesy. If people believe him to be cheesy then they are obviously basing their thoughts on misconceptions. Get out there and actually listen to one of his sets live. He has done so much for the genre, producing some of its greatest tracks and yet he is abused by the samll minded amongst you.
The facts have been laid out, the UK owns no-one!

think your forgetting Matt Hardwick and Eddie Halliwell.
Jules isn't that bad, he's been fairly good when I've seen him actually
Oakenfold does not play watered down cheesy trance, and if you think he does I'd like to know which sets you've been listening to, as for John Kelly, he's ahrdly in the same class as the others

o.......k.....
has any1 realised that no 1 country actually 'owns' trance in any way, shape or form. its a collective effort from dj's/producers from all around the world, them either being big room dj's or lil bedroom producers. Most countries hav @ least 2 or 3 trance djs/producers that have added sumthing to the genre.
like every country, the UK doesn't own trance, however trance would b @ a loss without it.
@ least thats the way i c it...........
oh + btw: granted we r pretty much shite @ every sport...however the australian didn't have to resort to tellin us how his team raped the swimming pool @ manchester...wtf was that all about?

Yes both good DJ's, but not top quality!
As for Oakie I'm basing my opinions on his last sets I heard him play live which were Gig on the Green in Glasgow, 25th August & Perfecto, Pacha, 23rd July. Two dates that were not that far by-gone, two times I had to endure Bullet in the Gun for god knows how many times now. Just not a patch on his sets from the late nineties.
And John Kelly is pants ain't he

I think you're al wrong , and well for this reasons:
Holland is the starter of the trance scene (think of Tiesto in his early years, with sapce age and Magik series and of course, his Innercity performance!). From Holland trance was flowing to other countries.
You guys forget some dutch trance dj's:
Rank 1 (Airwave!)
Gouryella (need I say more?)
Marco V
And what about the trance parties? Holland is THE place to be. Examples are Innercity, Sensation, Trance Energy, Mysteryland, Dance Valley, Massive, Qlimax, Shockers, Qontact etc....
HOLLAND OWNZ U!!!
