It's not even just the dating scene but day to day in general. I'm just surprised that's all. I knew TO was meant to be like this but now that I've been here a couple of months, I kind of get why a lot of people don't like it. It's a negative feedback loop, everyone is making it worse for everyone else.

It's super interesting from a social study perspective. I think Lira would have a ball here if he was visiting for a short period, just studying the way people do things here and their mindset. In fact, anyone with an interest in psychology and human interaction would have a field day here.

True. It's got nothing on Toronto in terms of volume and variety of acts that go through...they're really big on deep house (West coast/San Fran style) and dubstep, lots of junglists and drum&bass heads and shit too (damn hippies love that shit).

However, when good acts go through, they go through. Prosumer was there not too long ago! I think their underground scene is actually super underground, lol.

When I was at WMC in 2009, I went to the Amenti Music party...and the majority of the people in the club were from either Vancouver or Calgary. So weird.

Toronto is and always has been a shithole.

I like Toronto a lot. Always something to do. Lots of great food. Cultural events, etc. Doesn't mean it doesn't have A LOT of room for improvement.

I think that's a bit harsh but I can understand why you and a lot of others say that. There's definitely a tonne of room for improvement, but cities and the local residents rarely change.

Shoulda seen it in the 80s. Now THAT was a shithole.

It probably had less of those ugly skyscrapers around at least. City hall was definitely smoking crack when they approved the plans for the entire GTA to be ruined by glass towers.

In the past 3-4 years alone the insane amount of condos that have gone up is beyond terrible. The drive through d/t on the Gardiner used to be pretty cool when you could still actually see the lake. Now it's just walled in by goddamn condos.


edit: to compare it to Van again, at least in Van their sky scrapers, from the design of them to the location, look like they were well thought out with the look of the skyline in mind. Matching materials and an overall cohesiveness to the look of the downtown core.

Unlike Toronto's which is just a bunch of fucking boxes all jammed as close together as possible. It's totally a perfect reflection of what the people are like - competitive and out to prove something, but to the point of gaudiness.


edit 2: You can barely even see the Skydome anymore!!
