And hey guys, don't hate me for saying this, it's just my opinion on PVD, convince me that he's a brilliant dj, I did't make this thread to flame, just want a good discussion.
Personally his playing style just doesn't fit on me.
Neither does Gielen and Corsten, similar dj's.
I got respect for him but convince me that he creates awsome journeys... (you can't huh )
I got one set of him that is actually "good" and that's
paul van dyk - essential mix Live at Home London (23.04.2000)
(except from darude then....) |
I was about to mention that Essential Mix. He really sets the mood perfectly in that one. Starts off with a nice melodic track, then kicks into a more techy tune and then back again to a major uplifting tune that'll make you go crazy. After that...the energry goes up and down throughout the set, hitting "climax" about 3-4 times throughout the set.
This is one thing that I've noticed about PvD these days...he doesn't craft his sets the way he used to, of course, I wouldn't go as far as you and put him in the same class as Corsten and Gielen, because at least his uplifting, imo, is good uplifting and not cheesed out to the max, and they're his style, so to speak. You rarely see Gielen drop something that PvD drops, unless its a real big uplifting tune.

Uplifting stuff? He plays more progressive tracks than uplifting. |
