So yes he may play here few times a year (and another one coming up soon...not in Toronto...), but when our hometown heroes have got the global recognition they deserve from Ali's influence, its part of the game and shouldn't be criticized

Definitely not hating on that, Bullitt is a serious agency and has massive talent on it (including our locals). I was referring to his playing style, I've seen him play at least 15 times in the past, not too big on his style and feels like it has not evolved in the last 5+ years.

I think the problem is more how DJs play when they come to Toronto. I listen to the sets these guys play at clubs or festivals, so I get excited to hear them when they come by. Then they'll show up, play a generic tech house set and go home. They always play it safe here, it's frustrating.

Am I the only one who doesn't see his "rant" as condescending? Although there's clearly some frustration behind it, he's just giving realistic, practical advice from his own experience. I'm sure it's annoying for someone who worked his ass off like he did to be asked constantly for a free hand up the ladder.

Its not just Dubfire who gets spammed. I am far from being famous, but because I have an active Discogs and Soundcloud accounts, I get plenty of messages from people to check out their "awesome" and "underground" mixes. Its fucking annoying. I always delete them without even reading further.

He shouldn't have lashed out at all those DJs trying to promote their stuff or asking him to appear on their show. There's a way to handle this sort of stuff without ridiculing their efforts. All of us have to try and promote are stuff in one way or another and his words are just discouraging to others.

Besides it's not like he's really played that well in the past couple of years anyway, so he's less entitled to his "opinion". But I will always remember him for his stuff as Deep Dish and for a few of his productions since going techno.
