I just skipped around the 40-minutes of DJ wankery and, yeah, there's no way in hell that this is a live gig. The fact that he never even looks out away from gear and toward the dance floor is a dead giveaway.

To be honest, I was playing the same night as Kingdom Rave. Which every raver in Atlanta, and a 200 mile radius was at. It wasn't that big of a deal. After I finished, I went and hung out with Darude and danced my ass off. So.. yes it was a real gig, at Quad, the night of Kingdom Rave and that's why I purposefully didn't record the "crowd" because there wasn't one.. Oh well.. Their sound is nice though.

andf your iPhone happens to have its own professional grade stabilizer. And the sweater. And the showing everything but the people. You are vain. Vain people show off. Showing people is more impressive than a standard setup that isn't yours. You are also a rookie, yet you make concerted looks at the camera. That isn't something anyone live would do unless they were absolute veterans with modelling experience getting a good shot but then there would be a camera operator. Even a big dj would that had no talent and needed a good pic would do it in a studio and just photoshop the vibe in. Then there is the well it was before it was open, but you are really raging hard for an empty room. And then the bass. I mean fuckin hell dude. You can hear you guys talking with a consistent bass level , and then you are using the main system, which given the gain would sound terrible just, boom boom boom of digital noise. You don't have to be sherlock holmes to point out at least 5 things that don't; make sense.

is that what you have been doing the last few months. well that and meth

So let me understand.

You played at an empty club (probably as the warm up guy, so even less people than there were later on) and then make a video of it being incredibly careful not to record the empty club.

Now where did you get the idea, that it would smart to post up this video to promote yourself as a DJ (youtube channel, your site, FB etc) which is clearly of you playing to no-one?

Do you understand the pointlessness, especially when it's so damn obvious that you're not playing to anyone, of uploading this video.

I mean, fuck, if I turn up to play a club and it's empty, the last fucking thing I'm going to do is film it, let alone promote it as me playing at some club. I wouldn't want any visual record of me playing to the barman and bellboys. I just can't understand your logic.

Maybe you've got a little too wrapped up in the whole Guetta, EC twins, SHM lifestyle bullshit (i.e. seeing them and thinking if I act the same way as they do it will happen to me etc) but they have a whole team/army of people cultivating that image, managing their PR and making their tracks for them, and that still hasn;t saved them from career suicide and implosion. This isn't something to aspire to; Being a douchebag DJ isn't cute and it won't make you rich or famous.

Do understand, I have no personal beef with you. This isn't an attack on Ryan the person, just the bullshit that seems to go along with DJRYAN™. I don't know you at all, but when you post things like this I just can't understand how you don't see what you're going is the reason that a lot of DJ's have a bad name. All pose and no substance, thinking the pose (jesus, obviously) will get you to the top.

Oh, and careful there clay, Darude (or Darudevil on TA) is a real TA lurker. I had not seen him post on here in about 3 years, and within 20 minutes of me once posting something negative (I witnessed about his DJing once) he was all over TA like a fanny rash on a Pornstar.

Just ask Nem

Damn guys. Why so interested? I was talking about the metaphoric bag and the musical tools you'd put in it.

But, I'll tell you.

Quad Atlanta is one of the premier nightspots in Atlanta. On any given night it can have a couple thousand people in it.. Mostly ravers who love EDM. Which is why I like to play there.

Anyways, to make a long story short. They held a DJ Competition featuring 20+ Atlanta Based DJ's.

Round 1 I finished #4
I got a bye Round #2
and Round 3 I was supposed to close out the night, but didn't get to play.

Sooooo...

I got, a Thursday Night Gig outside on the Patio, another one at the H2Glow Party, and then another one down in the basement.. 3 for 1 isn't bad in my opinion.

But yeah.. 2 of the gigs, one of which was the night I recorded using my iVideo handheld camera, (which is the video you guys posted) was the night of Kingdom Rave, and there was no one in there.. I played early.. like 10 to 11:30 and then went to Kingdom Rave..

And that was that..
