We sometimes have a projector for visuals when we have a party to complement the decks and music and show stuff like the animatrix and other films etc.

Would appreciate any links to cool videos to download for visuals like where cars are driving through city streets at night at speed etc

Ummh getting into the business not an easy one to answer. It is not cheap, hell no, and it is a long road. First and formost you most like at least the idea of visuals. Just like a DJ will like music to get into dj'ing you must like visuals to get into VJ'ing. Wether that is arty farty or computer generated or have a =keen eye for interesting video footage, photography, whatever.

Some think it is just cool (and will make them a lot of money, for to sadly not true) and have no passion for it. Not that I sound negative or anything it is cool that you have shown an interest.

ANyway www.vjcentral.com, www.vjforums.com and www.audiovisualizers.com are good places to start on what software and hardware you will require. Do some research and so what style you like. It is not like a DJ where you have to choose what decks to get it is more like a musician and deciding what instrument to play and what you will be good at. There are lkoads of styles so download some evualtion software and go from there. If you are dedicated then you will enjoy it.

I am not one for clips much but again www.vjforums.com there will be threads about this. But why not just get a video camera yourself and drive late at inight around YOUR city. The punters will be more impressed with this as they can recognise stuff on the screen and every that orginal look.

That is true but I don't think the police would take to kindly to a middle of the night hi speed drive about the city

I really like visuals, and think they are a part of a good evening.

Together with the sound quality its very important to me.

I usually go to Index, a club just across the German border.
Main area has everything I like: Good music, everywhere, and good visuals.

2 green lasers, and 2 full-color lasers. The ceiling exists of 4 parts, which can be moved up and down all ways.

The lasers are really cool. In the back of the club there are mirrors, which reflects the laserbeams all other sides.
The mirror-ball in the center can be up-and-down, which gives the lasers also a very cool look.

I didn't mean you go at high speed I meant record it and play it back speeded up.

Oh nice lazer pics smile a club that has spend some money for a change. But it is easy for the initial investment more difficult to pay a visual artist/vj (a decent and far rate) each week.

don't bother going at a high speed ...

just drive around normally and then encode the footage on your computer and speed it up !

Don't be scared of tweaking up the color values as well and dropping frames here and there...

The nature of doing video loops as well as mixing them is pretty subjective so there is no "proper" way to create stuff.
