There's nothing wrong with setting standards for yourself and what you aspire to in a relationship, but being realistic means understanding that endeavouring to find happiness through another person is largely an exercise in futility. If you're unable to look forward to each day by your lonesome, then you're going to experience the same difficulty with a partner.

These people Vivid speaks of, who seemingly have the life drained out of their faces because of their relationship with their partners, most likely weren't particularly happy to begin with, despite outward appearances. They tend to be the ones who are shocked to find out that a happy, peaceful and contented long-term relationship is actually hard fucking work - if they ever even come to that realisation. There's a big difference between innocence and happiness; the former is based on naïveté (ignorance, even), while the latter is something that's cultivated. Great, if you can blissfully reside in the former state your entire life, but that's rarely the reality most of us are faced with, especially as we grow older.

Everyone brings their baggage into a relationship, no matter how minimal it may be, and whether conscious or not, we tend to chose partners who reflect the contents of our emotional rucksack.

So, best of luck in finding your exception - if and when you believe you've done so, you'll probably be quite surprised at some point to find them quite human and fallible, just like the rest of us.

Ive dropped more girls than bad habits. And ive dropped alot of bad habits. In the end what matters is 1 thing. Their sense of normal is close enough to your sense of normal.

For some girls Normal is being completely jealous and worrying 24/7. some girls their sense of normal is a household where there is constant fighting and bickering. Other girls their sense of normal is where they run the show.

Just find someone who is normal to you and you'll be fine aka get in where you fit in.

I'm starting to quite like the idea of being middle aged and being able to to do all the projects and things I don't have time or money to do now because I'm too busy with ephemeral youth shit.

Anyways, don't really fear death. I fear a long illness leading to death, that'd suck, but if I were to just die well then not a whole shit ton you can do about it and not like you'd care after. The idea makes me sad for my loved ones, but eh.

Have a kid.

Then tell me you'd be happy to die in a few days, knowing you'd never see him/her grow up.
