What marathons have already run?
[/i]

Frankfurt 2000 (3:51)
Frankfurt 2001 (3:40)
Hong Kong 2002 (3:27)
Hartfort 2002 (3:08)

planned: Boston 2003
NYC 2003

Hong Kong was AWESOME.. in a city, which is PACKED with cars at all times/ day and night, u start right downtown kowloon at 7 am. and then you go onto a high way.. for a LOOONG time. across the bridge to Lantau Island, turn back, across another bridge (km 21.1) then it's all downhill until u are BENEATH the harbor.. and then u are in Central, where ALL the skyscrapers are around you..

small marathon, but deffinetely the nicest i have run yet. Warm (almost hot), sunny, with plenty of time to yourself.

Congratulations on a great run! That's a great time, BTW. I've got a close friend that's trying desperately to break the 3 HR threshold, been fighting it for 2 yrs now. Course, being an avid pothead doesn't help him much either.

Now, go out and buy yourself a good bike, swimsuit, and a pair of goggles, and join us idiot triathletes in the pursuits of neverending transitional torture! Always a good beer waitin' at the end of the finish line!

Damn you guys are good. I just took up running and I plan on running a marathon sometime in my life. I've ran 10K which was not to hard and I plan on doing a half marathon relatively soon, and then work my way on up to a full marathon. I just read in the paper today that some woman broke the world record for ladies marathon with a time of 2:17. Thats fucken amazing, she was running like 20 km an hour. Thats some fast shit

The ironman Germany took place in my Home town this summer (two days after my 21st b-day) and it really made me consider to start on triathlon stuff. The problem is swimming.. i totally suck at it and it is 'difficult' to practice. I mean, to run, "all" (unless u start running in the winter, when there is a ton of other stuff u need) you need is a pair of shoes and some space. Ride a bike, you need the bike, a helmet and some space.

to swim, you need a pool. I don't have that. Oh well, some day maybe.

u know that you should not run the full 42k ever unless in a race. Most literature that i read tells that you should never run more than 37k for a workout (and that is absolute max). Most of the time, I _PLAN_ to run 2-3 20k runs a week, and fill the rest of the days with 10k's.. What i actually run is a little different. Then there I am going to run one 30k per month (say first weekend of each month), just to keep the long distance endurance up. but the 30k's are HELL trust me. I have no clue how i will do these (as I need to drink on such a distance) when i am in NYC.

that is INSANE. I mean I ran 13.46km/h on average and i died.. I cannot believe that they run sooo much faster than me.. i am extremely impressed. I think 16km/h is my max for any medium distance anyhow (at this point). time to get my pace up i guess

Those Germans are the monster trainers of triathlons. Hellriegel is not of this earth! Lookin' forward to seeing the results to the Hawaii Ironman this weekend.

Yeah, one other thing you kinda need for Triathlons: money, and lots of it if you want to do a lot of events. The bike and bicycle maintenance alone always hurts the wallet! But it's worth it. Good luck at your next race.

yeah Lothar Leder (a local favorite this summer) was TALKING to the guy on the motocycle next to him while he was on the bike part..

heck, I cannot even talk when i am running my marathon, i am DEAD, how does he do it when he has like 50 more miles to go on the bile and another 26 running??

all I can say is INSANE!

2. how much chlorine is in it (the whole gym smells of it)
3. am i too lazy to walk to school just to go swim? - yes ;D

(3) you are too lazy to walk to the gym but you ran a marathon. you are silly.

(2) it probably does have a sickening amount of chlorine in it. when i used to swim, my bathing suits would only last 6 months because they would get eaten up by the chlorine so fast.

(1) you can probably get the open swim hours by calling your rec office.
