But can you really compare any Trance tracks of today to something like Moogwai - Viola or Slipstream - Krakatao, from 14 years ago? The latter is what they played at Electric Daisy Carnival in 2000, as opposed to the Ping Pong Trance played there now. I've yet to hear something remotely as memorable or emotive, and I don't think it's only my nostalgia speaking.

But those are not really uplifting, which I was referring to. For uplifting IMO it's not that different from e.g. Apoptygma Berzerk — Kathy's Song (Ferry Corsten Remix) 2001.
RAM & Stine Grove - RAMore also to me sounds like the anthem of a decade ago.

I was referring to Trance as a whole; back then we never used terms like uplifting or epic.

Like 10 years ago, I'm not expecting anything spectacular to happen in trance, but I'm surprised about the still huge number of uplifting tracks made nowadays. Also about the number of people following it. The number of new producers I never heard of increases week by week.

it amazes me how you could still dig a track such as the one you posted. I mean, despite the melody not having any flare to it, I would've salivated over that kind of track in 2004 as a 15 year old kid. Now I don't mean to be an elitist so feel free to like whatever you want.
Just know that this hasn't predominantly been a trance website in a long long time, so you can't fault TA's anymore for not being true tranceaddicts all because they broadened their taste through other genres.

My gawd every time I hear these cheesy vocal trance my whole body shivers with cheesiness, to the point where the hair on my head stands up and I need a packet of Gladlock bags by my side just in case I vomit.

WTH happen to some of that ol' classic sounds of Paul Van Dyk Trance Energy/Essential mixes? Today's trance music makes me embarrass to be associated with it.

I guess the good thing is all the posers have jumped off the Trance bandwagon and into 'Dubstep' now, still, trance today is full of commercial sounds. Yuck!

Rant over.

lol welcome to 2010

Well, the number of producers making such tracks currently must be much more surprising.
My taste got frozen in 1994.
