I dont get this? To me its not that hard to imagine trance basically being born by Germans attempting to make detroit techno by fusing it with german electronic space music.
Also, I will give this a listen soon. Tracklist looks good actually.
The joke is that no matter what style I play people always say "This almost sounds like progressive/trance." I was just getting it in there before anyone else did.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. And welcome back to the forum, by the way.

Ahh got it! Always glad to be back. I always go missing for 6 months around spring to summer. Science work always seems to build up around that time.
I really dug this mix. And there is no such thing as too jackhammer for me, so no complaints on it getting more hard. I would echo woony's comments that there definitely is a different sound on these tracks as opposed to vinyl only detroit techno coming out. But I like both so once again that isnt a complaint. If i had to really find a complaint, it would probably be that to me there wasnt one stand out moment on the mix, or real killer track. But it would be hard to only make mixes every time you discovered a new killer track and built a set around it.
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. I personally think Atom and Horizon back to back bring the mix to a peak and provide the stand-out moment. That was the intention anyway.
Got around to listening to this. Hard to complain about the track choice or mixing. Two hours of thus stuff did start to feel a little bit too sugar-y after a while but you definitely tried to keep it varied enough at least, with some of the middle section tracks being more in the style of clubby dubtechno. Didn't expect to see a Pulse Code Modulation track in there, very underrated producer. DJ Pete played one of his tracks a while ago and it works great on the floor as well, no idea why no one seems to ever play that type of stuff. I think it's kind of funny, a lot of these type of tracks are the stuff that will make nerds rush to the booth, expecting some super rare mythic whitelabel but it's just some obscure digital only release hidden in the depths of Beatport.
I can take being labelled a sugary techno DJ. I think the difference is most techno DJs would play 90% bangers and occasionally lift their set, whereas I play 90% melodic stuff and occasionally play a banger. I probably would play more stripped down stuff in a club but I don't really buy those tracks because:
A) For me they're not much fun to listen to at home.
B) I'm consequently a poor judge of them when I'm shopping.
