everyone's history is off. we all get our facts from history books... unfortunately, history is written by the victors. however, i have no doubt that japan was on the verge of surrender given the circumstances (ie, them LOSING HORRIBLY at the time). don't believe everything you read, even in history books. i'm sure american history books have cooked up nice stories about how the bombs were such a great idea and that they alone turned the tide of the war. sorry to burst your bubble, but the war was already swinging the allies way at the time. no need for those nuclear monsters.

and i'm sure the eggheads who invented the bomb had a pretty good idea about what massive doses of radiation would do to people.

if news stopped informing people about deaths/kills/murders, there would be a lot less murders in the country in total... psycho's find this as their 15 minutes of fame sort of thing... they see on tv how much coverage people that kill others get and how they become "famous" so they see it as their own way of getting famous fast and easy...

And, if your theory is right and they're not credible then where should i get my information from?? and please don't say the internet.. There's more Bull shit floating around on the internet, at least history books have to live up to a certain standard.. if i believed the internet i'd believe that, " Zionists have taken over the world, the chinese are working on taking over the world, and that jewish people and black people control the U.S. "

So I don't believe most of what the internet says.. and i'd say i do believe 90% of what is in history books.. If they're not credible, then where should i get my information from??

oh and another fact (I am not taking sides here or defending anyone just simply stating the facts): Russia anounced that if United States invades Iraq, Russia will provide Iraq with weapons and other types of support (what kind of support I don't know).

that being said, it does not make me happy in any way at all. but regardless I doubt Russia will really do anything. I think the only reason they are saying it is that of the same reason U.S. wants to go into Iraq in the first place is "OIL" they want a share.

see the news can be an extremely great source for information but it can also be it's own worst enemy. See certain news media take it too far just to sell papers. Media need to be more self conscious because they need to ask themselves...should i be putting this information out, is the source credible.

read various sources, and use discretion.. that's all.

example. canadian history books claim we whooped major ass in the war of 1812. american history books claim that it wasn't really a war (just a bunch of cross border skirmishes), and that they didn't lose that bad. the truth is probably somewhere in between. your american history books probably neglected to mention the fact that the british chased the yanks all the way to washington and burned the white house (which wasn't white back then) and that's why they painted it white.... or so i'm told, =P. see what i mean? people like to leave things out of history. i'm not saying historians are all liars. but you have to read different books and piece together a logical explaination.

if history was based on one countrie's historians, then that country would've invented everything, and won every war.
