Cool article
I can't speak for women, but I prefer to think of male sexuality as 2 distinct bubbles that overlap a little bit in the middle. There's a straight bubble and a gay bubble. Each bubble has a range of possibilities and combinations inside of it.
The reason that I think its helpful to break it out that way is because when I'm around a gay man who's either totally gay, or gay but sometimes will sleep with women, its totally obvious to me after having normal day to day conversations and interactions that he's fundamentally gay. An example would be walking through the mall. I'll see pretty girls passing by while they don't even register for him.
On the flip side, when I meet straight guys that are like myself ( a 1 on your link above), it is obvious that we both respond at a basic level to the presence of a woman, and the concept of hooking up with a guy is pure novelty. Its like maybe I could but I don't really care if I do.
I do know one guy that I used to work with that presented as a true 3. He was willing to fuck a guy or a girl just the same and he did so constantly. Often having group sex as well. He was also mean, horribly dysfunctional, alcoholic, drug addicted, bipolar, and exhibited borderline psychotic traits. For this man in particular, him being a 3 was a side effect of his poor emotional health.
