hardcore + drugs = one happy raver
This genre isn't meant to be taken seriously, just as some jungle and dnb and trance (hard trance) isn't meant to. You're just supposed to dance and enjoy it, now technically analyze it. Chill out, guys

Why do people find it odd that techno fans dislike "hardcore"?
Most electronic music makes me want to move, be it raving or just tapping my feet, but anything below 120 bpm and above 160 bpm I just don't feel the rhythm, I have to try to like it - it doesn't make me move without noticing like other electronic genres do, it seems to lack that quality.
I like really hard music - in fact I love it, but I don't find this music even a fraction as banging as Hard Techno. Maybe that's just me, but I don't believe faster = harder, by that philosophy why not dance to a machine gun. I like hard chunky rough beats in techno, but when you turn the pitch right up the kicks just don't sound the same.
In the UK most hardcore fans seem to be about 12 - 15 years old. I've met some adults who like it, but as others here have said they tend to like it "for a bit of a laugh".

each to his own...
some people love country and western i dont.... but i dont go putting crap on them... and im sure htey sit on their thread site and say stuff like i cant believe there are people who dont like country and western... its all to the individual...
so many people have started with hardcore and happy hard... in sydney i get the feeling that most clubbers used the rave scene until they found out it was more sytlish to go to clubs and listen to trance or funky house... its kinda sad im sure if hardcore was put in many nightclubs so it was aimed at an older crowd alot the sterotype of it being for youngans would be dropped quick smart!!!
a fair few happy hardcore and hardcore riffs and samples have being used in all other areas of songs.... cru l t sued geri halliwell for using one of his samples.... stimulant djs only produce hardhouse so that they can keep their main hobby going i.e. happy hardcore legends brisk and ham!
unfortunately the only hardcore that people come in contact with unless they go out and search for it themselves is the worst hardcore ever like "xtc you got what i need" etc! you gotta get into the better stuff and then work out your style...
anys the new happy hard is being commonly reffered to as trance core or somethign fo the likes because it uses alot of trancy synths....
anys blah blah blah

I listened to happy hardcore before I discovered trance, and yes, I still like it
Happy Hardcore is perhaps one of the worst genres ever to hit the face of this earth..
ROTTERDAM!
I liked hardcore for a short while when i was 12 or so but the phase ended quickly and i Agree happy hardcore is not hardcore its cheesy crap.
IMO Hard core isnt bad but its not something i really would readily bust out, cruzing to it once n a while would be alright but we need dancable tunes lolz

I hear that hardcore is much more popular in Australia...
it's definitely more of a "rave" music as opposed to the club trance mostly referred to on this site...I think.
