My general annoyance for fat fucks starts and ends at the grocery store, as I don't really run into them anywhere else.

Whether it's a doorway, an aisle or a line, they find a way to eat your time.

Also: anyone on a mobility scooter should be made to cry at least 20 times per day.

Bit of a cause-and-effect question there though - they were probably bullied because they were fat, rather than being fat because they were bullied earlier in life. It's impossible to see the people who may have lost weight and got into shape to silence their bullies, so it's effectively impossible to quantify the issue.

The bigger issue is parents who allow their children to get fat. I believe it's been demonstrated that once someone reaches obesity it becomes, for the rest of their life, harder to lose weight compared to someone who never reached that condition. At an age where a child is totally dependent on you to instill in them the values that will make them adults, letting them eat any shit they want is unforgivable.

Oh I know that, but from what I've read it still costs the system a whole lot of scrilla.

I also agree about the mobility scooters at Wal-Mart and Costco etc. My neurologist keeps insisting on getting me an electric wheelchair (so I can be "independent") but I flatly refuse.

My legs suck complete balls now, but when I go anywhere I wheel my ass around without help.

I live an unhealthy lifestyle worthy of a show on A & E....but i won't drain the health care system, as I'll go out in a blaze of glory.

That is true, but think of the non-bullied kids as the closest we can get to a control group: The bullied kids were 43% of all the total population.

It's very unlikely that all these kids were fat - only 13% of kids were overweight in 1993, so I assume the percentage was even smaller in 1958, when the study started (I couldn't find any numbers for the 50's, sorry). Still, obesity was 7% more common among bullied women and 4% more common among men. Statistically, obese children who slimmed down after being bullied must've been outliers, rather than part of a trend.

They don't all have to be fat. People can get bullied for many reasons. If we're talking 4-7% of people, that's around 5.5% in total. I don't think it's unreasonable to posit that 1 in 20 kids were overweight even in the 1950s.
