FTNB, having not lived in Europe (i think), you seem to have seen the situation in France and Holland (probably more euro-countries) right.
It's true that it's a good system in case you've lost your job for some reason, that's a fair thing, you still get paid a certain percentage of your previous job while you do your best to find another job (a 6 month delay sounds very good to me)
After that, yeah obviously there are exceptions. People who have serious problems, psychological probs for example, or are the hospital, or under heavy medications etc etc...
But most of the time, yeah, that's kind of unfair for working people to have to pay for others who don't bother to try to get a job. Because i'm guessing that most of time just take a big advantage of the society, which pays for their expenses etc.
Even worse, this system is so fucked up that some (here in France) quit their job to be eligible to get this amount a money per month, AND work illegaly at the same time, making way more money that a regular and legal worker would ! You name it, selling drugs, selling stolen items, doing whatever else that brings lots of money..
That's really sick to me...and fucks up the whole system.
Like everything else, it's good as long as no one takes too much advantage of it, to their own profit.
