Then I start getting of jealous of people who are traveling the world or partying. Then I have to remind myself that's why I got off social yo. |

Don't believe the IG hype. I know people who have this fan fucking tastic life on IG, look like total globe trotting players but really they take one trip a year and work in a cubicle to pay for it. Even Billzarian's life is completely staged and he's paying those girls to hang around with him to make it all seem fabulous.

Facebook has become real bad when you look at how it's used versus how it used to be used. One example: you used to be able to scroll through the news feed and you would get actual posts from your actual, real friends. Now all you get are meme reshares from mentally unstable people and, of course, ads.
I've found a way to make it work for me, but it may not work for everyone. In my opinion:
1) don't use the news feed at all.
2) use the "close" friend feature to your advantage so you can follow people who A) don't post garbage at all (i.e. original content), and B) who use it as an actual social space, so you can follow these people's updates and be somewhat up to date with their lives. The close friend feature works by marking friends who you want to receive direct notifications for. Personally, I sort by friends who 1) post original content or statuses, 2) whom I interact with/and who interacts with me, in real life, regularly 3) friends I know very well who have moved far away and are much harder to keep in contact with
Do you have a friend who shares memes 10 times a day and never actually posts about their life? boom, hidden completely.
3) use the groups feature, events, and group chats to keep friendgroups together and communicating
Facebook isn't going to be useful for everyone, nor is it useful for keeping up to date with *all* of your friends (see above), but it can be useful if you utilize the features and filter out people who don't really use the platform the way, IMO, it should be used.
Might not be worth the effort, but that's my $0.02 facebook opinion :-) I go on facebook several times a day to chat with people or see updates, but I never spend more than 2-3 minutes at a time. I think if you're spending a 2 hour block of time on facebook, you should delete it. that isn't healthy
IG is garbage for a lot of obvious reasons. It is a magnet for narcissists of various levels, which has been shown via studies and surveys. The lives you 'see' on there are a facade, as stated by someone else, an illusion.
hey wait, wasnt this a thread about a music festival...?
