Yeah, he's something else. Hard to believe he's 71 now. He'll always be 40 or 50 in my eyes.

Tomorrow is my wife's birthday, and we celebrated today with her family. She gorged herself on sashimi while I overcheese'd on cheese rolls.

Nice cabin, Zoso!

Yeah, also the US men in curling against Sweden were amazing.

I wish I had seen it, but it was already way too late (or early, depending on how much sleep you've had ), so I just watched the first end.

My mother-in-law was super excited Japan beat Team GB in women's curling. Missed that one too

Congrats with your wife's birthday!

I watched the end with the 5 pointer that basically was the game over for Sweden.

Also a great Gold for Japan today by Takagi at the mass start for women. Two more bronze for us with as end result 8-6-6, 20 medals in total, a very satisfying number again after the crazy 24 in Sochi 2014.
Japan by the way did much better compared to Sochi. Norway gained a shitload of medals beating the US record.

And not to forget, Belgium won silver at mass start for men. Their first and last silver one was in 1948! (same for gold), so that's good for the spirit.

Haven't posted this one yet, Lisaya's 2014 bootleg remix of our official medal celebration theme of 2014 and also 2018, with the nice old footage:

But he build that cabin bottom to top, and it's better built and more "square" than most "professional" built homes. But, he is patient and has great attention to detail. If he didn't know how to do something, he'd Google or YouTube it, and after a few tries, he had mastered it. I love that place. The inside has pine paneling, and it smells soooo good when you walk in. The clothes I wear over there come home with that pine smell, and I often want to delay washing them, lol.

In my experience, there's actually very few really talented framers out there and often homeowners tend to spend more time getting the details right than "experienced" contractors. My business premises was taken right back to the stud/skeleton and I ended having to basically PM it becuase the subs needed to be watched like hawks. Even then the place isn't fucking true Had a nightmare hanging the doors because the walls and frames were off.

You and your dad did a really nice job, especially with the siding and porch, Please tell me you rebar'd the cinderblocks?

I'd have to ask, but I am pretty sure I recall him doing that. It's got hurricane tie downs all around, too. He really built it to last, I have to say.

If there's tie downs, there's no he didn't rebar them. It's be like putting a hat on to go out in to the cold and forgetting to wear anything else lol.

Really nice place again.
