Hopefully now it's full steam ahead.

Wall cracks are common in old houses as they settle. It’s most likely plaster wood lathe. They are fine as long as you don’t mess with them. Anything more than a simple patch is a big job. Unlike sheet rock, plaster isn’t easy to work with or something you can do yourself.

Congrats. £2k is a nice discount.

I recommend anyone buying a house to watch shows like grand designs, The restoration man, restoration home etc. It gives you a lot of insight in to building techniques and pitfalls.

It's funny - the biggest thing I see with homes in the Uk is an absolute obsession with insulation and triple glazed windows etc. I forget just how fucking cold and damp it is in some places in the UK given it's right before xmas and it's 25 fucking celsius in LA right now.

The funny thing is most houses you could live in without spending any money but as soon as you move in you’ll decide that you’ll “need xyz” remodel the bathroom, kitchen, new appliances, windows, insulation, knock down walls for modern open space, hardwood floors, upgrade the electrical service, etc. You can drop 10k like nothing
