I appreciate that the scene is really really shitty in most of the US, and I have no problem believing that kids there listen to even worse music than they do here. But over here, Steve Aoki hasn't played a gig in the UK since 2016. Instead, this kind of fist-pumping "tech" house is what the kids are listening to, and Mark Knight is the kind of dance music you hear on daytime radio. He made his name 10-15 years ago by pioneering the "generic, unnecessary big room remix of a classic" formula on the likes of Strings Of Life and Man With The Red Face, meaning he basically invented the template for all those shitty covers of Born Slippy and Insomnia which are always at the top of the Beatport charts.

Although, if RANN is right and Aoki is playlisting Toolroom tracks, that pretty much detonates your entire argument in your face without the need of any more words.

this , but yes there are very seldom 20 years olds listening to mark knight out here, in fact like stroke mentioned his crowd is more seasoned , but that maybe due to us not being as advanced as the overseas ,

and I guess I stand by my original statement in saying that it's just good mindless fun big room tech house , which has its place imo

David guetta was recently releasing some of his "underground" tracks under his Jack back alias on toolroom as well ...so now that I think about it J was totally right even more so than I previously thought

Some of his stuff is fun - it's simple, formulaic, upbeat, driving house music that's much more tolerable than Aoki or Dmitri Vegas cheese. I quite like Yebisah and Colombian Soul (with D Ramirez).
